Walls that WOW
Venetian Plaster, Faux Painting & Unique Wall Textures
Venetian Plaster & Faux Finishes in Central Oregon
I'm Steve. For over five years I've been hand-finishing walls - Venetian plaster, faux painting and custom wall textures, all applied by hand on site, so no two walls ever come out the same. I work with homeowners, interior designers, builders and commercial clients.
Venetian Plaster
Polished Italian plaster built up in thin layers and burnished by hand until it reads like stone. Depth, movement and a soft sheen that paint cannot reproduce. A favorite for feature walls, entryways, fireplace surrounds and powder rooms.
Faux Painting
Hand-painted finishes that stand in for materials you cannot always have: aged stone, weathered wood, marble, leather, old-world patina. All the character, none of the cost or weight of the real thing.
Custom Wall Textures
Troweled, stippled and sculpted surfaces built up on site to suit the room. Anything from a quiet sand-swept wall to bold relief that catches the light and shifts through the day.
FAQs
What is Venetian plaster?
Venetian plaster is a lime-based Italian wall finish applied by hand in thin troweled layers, then burnished to the depth and soft sheen of polished stone. Unlike paint, the surface has real material depth - light moves across it differently through the day. It suits feature walls, entryways, fireplace surrounds, powder rooms and whole interiors.
Can Venetian plaster be used in bathrooms and kitchens?
Yes. Lime plaster is naturally resistant to mold and mildew, and with the right sealer a polished plaster wall stands up well to the humidity of bathrooms and kitchens. Powder rooms and tub surrounds are among the most popular places for it.
What is faux painting?
Faux painting is the craft of using paint and glaze to convincingly imitate other materials - aged stone, marble, weathered wood, leather, old-world patina. It brings the character of those materials to a wall without their cost or weight, and every finish is mixed and applied by hand.
Can you plaster over existing drywall or painted walls?
In most cases, yes. Sound drywall and previously painted surfaces can take plaster or a specialty finish once they are properly cleaned, repaired and primed. Prep is most of the job - it is what makes the finish last.
